ELIoT (Enhance Lighting for the Internet of Things) is a 6 million Horizon 2020 collaborative project consisting of 11 partners from four European countries coordinated by the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute.  The official launch (‘Kick-off’) took place at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin on the 28th and 29th of January. After the welcoming presentation, consortium members briefly introduced themselves, their organisation and the roles they are to play in the project. The remainder of the morning session was then taken up by presentations and discussions regarding the technical and administrative management of the project. The afternoon session was dedicated to individual work packages with presentations by WP leaders and input and suggestions from consortium members. The work in WP4-6 depends to some degree on the input from WPs 2 and 3 and will not start until month 10, but partners were reminded to look out for any recommendations and potential input that might be useful. WP7 is concerned with dissemination, exploitation and standardisation discussions centred on initial thoughts about dissemination targets and exploitation strategy. The meeting was round off with an enjoyable and relaxing dinner at one of Berlin’s restaurants.
